Praise God, who has raised Jesus Christ to reign in power!

Let everything that lives Praise God!

HYMN:  Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah        651 VU

PRAYER OF APPROACH:  We have come  together,  O God, longing for a glimpse of heaven.  Out of the clamour and ordeal of the world, we bring our anxieties and sufferings.  Here we find others who share our quest for meaning and purpose.  Here we can reflect on your generosity, and take time to pray.  Reveal yourself to us here, so we may recognize your presence with us in other times and places.  We pray as Jesus taught, praying together:

HYMN:  I, The Lord of Sea and Sky    509 VU

Offertory:  What can I do?  What can I bring?
What can I say? What can I sing?
I’ll sing with joy.  I’ll share a prayer.
I’ll bring my love.  I’ll do my share.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION:  You pour out your love upon us, O God; and in response we show our thanksgiving by our gifts.  Accept what we offer as signs of our gratitude.  Make us your useful servants, serving the world with a greater sense of holiness and awe.  Being led by the Holy Spirit we pray.  Amen.

Act of Decovenanting
Paul: Our church, like any community changes.
All: Babies are born. Children grow up.
Paul: Loved ones and friends grow old.  People move into our community and church.
All: Others leave us, moving on to new places, new experiences, and new opportunities.
Paul: Let us not forget that ministry in this place is God’s ministry, entrusted to us as the body of Christ.
All: Our ministry belongs to God and is on-going.
Paul: When a minister comes into our church we form a new covenant with one another.
All: We promise to walk together as God’s people, deepening our commitment to Jesus Christ and growing closer to God.
Paul:  God’s covenant with us never changes
All: but our covenants with one another do change.

Paul:  This time of worship marks the formal ending of the Transition Team who accompanied Rev. Helen and Trinity United Church over the course of the last 2 years.
Transition Team members:  We were honoured to be called by this congregation to provide leadership in the processes of renewal and transformation.  We were mindful of the trust placed in us, as we attempted to faithfully lead the congregation forward, becoming the church god is calling us into being.
All:  we are grateful for your dedication, time, talents and energy that you devoted to this task.  We recognize that your official role is now over, but hope you will continue to provide leadership within our congregation as we continue to learn and grow.
Transition Team:  We will, with God being our helper.
Paul:  And now we mark the ending of the covenant between Trinity United Church, Helen Prior and Northern Waters Presbytery.
Helen:  I thank Trinity United Church, its members and friends for the love, kindness and support shown to me while I have ministered among you these last 2 years.  I thank you for accepting my leadership.  I recall with joy the many things we have been able to accomplish together and with sadness the things we were not able to do.  I ask your understanding and forgiveness for the mistakes I made and for the times I let you down.  As I leave I carry with me all that I have learned here.
All: We receive your thankfulness, and we offer our forgiveness for any failures.  Your influence on our lives and faithfulness will not leave us.  We are grateful for your time among us and ask your forgiveness for our shortcomings and sometimes flagging faith.
Helen: I accept your thanksgiving and your forgiveness of me.  I forgive you any shortcomings.  May our time together and our parting now be pleasing and acceptable to God, the One we are called to serve.
Paul:  Do you the members and friends of Trinity United Church release Helen Prior from the duties of Interim Minister on June 12th?
All: We do with God being our helper.
Paul:  Do you, Helen Prior, release Trinity United Church from turning to you and depending on you as their Interim Minister?
Helen:  I do, with God being my helper.
Paul:  Do you Helen offer your encouragement for the continued ministry of Trinity United Church?
Helen:  I will encourage your continuing ministry at Trinity United Church and pray for you and your supply minister, Judith Oliver, as you continue on a journey filled with transitions.
Paul:  Let us pray:

Prayer:  Holy God, your love for all is everlasting.  You have bound us together in a covenant relationship for the past 2 years as a church.  You called us to work for the advancement of your realm in our midst.  During the time we were together, we have experienced laughter and tears, hopes and disappointments.  We thank you for your gifts of forgiveness and love in the face of our failures.  We thank you for your presence, for the deeper knowledge we have gained of you, and of one another, because we have joined together.  Be with those who leave and those who stay.  Help each of us to trust in the future which rests in your care.  Guide us as we hold on to these memories and move forward in new directions.  May the new stages of our life apart be richly blessed and guided by you.  All this we pray as followers of Jesus, who unites us in love forever.  Amen

Hymn: Lord, You Give the Great Commission

                                                    512 VU (v1,2&5)

Go forth from here.
We will continue walking with Christ, in love and in service.
Take with you all that has been shared.
May our memories be springs of water when we are thirsty;
rays of light when we are in darkness;
and reason for rejoicing.
May God bless and keep us always.  Amen.

Choral Response       298 VU (twice)

When you walk from here,

when you walk from here,
walk with justice, walk with mercy,
and with God's humble care.
