LET US WORSHIP TOGETHER

PRELUDE - YOUNG PEOPLE’S CHIMES "O Little Town of Bethlehem"

CALL TO WORSHIP:

"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined."

We rejoice, "For unto us a child is born, unto us an heir is given."

Jesus said, "I am the light of the world, you people come and follow me, and you shall have the light of life."Glory be to God for God’s light and God’s love.

HYMN: O Come, All Ye Faithful 60 (v1 &3)

PRAYER OF APPROACH: Tonight, O God, the soles of your feet have touched the earth. Tonight, the back street, the forgotten place have been lit up with significance far beyond our wildest dreams. Tonight, the households of earth welcome the Child of heaven. For you have come among us, you are one of us. And while you were among us you taught us to pray this way: Our Father…. JESUS’ PRAYER

CANDLE LIGHTING

A Candle of Hope

We gather to celebrate the birth of the One who is the light of the world.

We are here to worship God, and God's son Jesus, born to the world in Bethlehem of Judea.

I light the candle of hope to remind us of the promises made by all the prophets that God would raise up a Saviour for God's people.

Christ is our hope and our salvation. He calls us to share our hope in him with each other.

A Modern Story of Light Shining

LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE

Tonight we have heard once more the Good News - Jesus is the Light of the World. We are called to reflect Christ's light to all who will receive this gift.

JESUS CHRIST IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. CHRIST'S LIGHT FILLS OUR HEARTS.

Tonight is the night for which we have been waiting.

THE ADVENT WREATH IS COMPLETED WITH THE CHRIST CANDLE IN THE CENTRE.

"For unto us a child is given, unto us a Saviour is born and the order of the world will be upon his shoulders."

WITH THE BIRTH OF CHRIST OUR LIVES ARE CENTRED, FOCUSED, TURNED TOWARDS GOD.

We light this candle because we recall once more that Christ is the centre of our lives.O God, who comes to us in Jesus, on this night as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let the power of Christ come into our hearts, like this light has come into the

darkness, that we might find peace with you forever. Amen.
