WE CENTRE OURSELVES IN GOD’S LIGHT

WE GATHER TO WORSHIP

CALL TO WORSHIP:

We seek your rule over us, O Christ!

You call us to believe in ourselves, and in our unique talents and abilities.

We are ready for your guidance, O Christ!

Your words in scripture, and the actions of faithful saints, show us the way.

We know your leading presence in our church, O Christ!

You call us to be open to new truth, and to support our sisters and brothers in the faith.

We seek your rule over us, O Christ!

Many powers call on us to submit and follow. You alone hold before us the power of God’s love. Amen.

HYMN: "Rejoice the Lord is King" 213 VU

PRAYER OF APPROACH:

O God, we thank you for never forsaking us. You never stop loving us. Trusting in your unfailing love, we have gathered to worship and praise you. Through your Holy Spirit, touch us, renew us, comfort us, challenges us; for we pray the way Jesus the Christ taught us, praying: Our Father…JESUS’ PRAYER

LITANY OF THE KINGDOM

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard. It is the smallest of seeds, but when it is grown, it is the greatest of shrubs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.

Teach us O God, to trust that small beginnings, when blessed by you, lead to glorious results.

The Kingdom of Heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until it was all leavened.

Never let us lose patience or grow weary in well-doing.

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls who on finding one pearl of great value went and sold all he had and bought it.

God, never let us forget that Christ is our priceless treasure.

Then the King will say: "Come you that are blessed, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, for I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was naked and you clothed me. I was a stranger and you took me in. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me."

So help us build your shalom in deeds of love and kindness . Amen.
