Several area United Churches will join together for worship on Sunday June 8th 2025.  It will be an 'opportunity to honour our past and look to the future'.  Ministers, Rev. Jane Sullivan, Rev. Jennifer Irving, Rev. John Greg Smith, and Rev. Mary Elizabeth Piercy will be in attendance.   We will be regaled in song with guest youth performers, the Stayner Sing Club, and   a joint choir from all the churches.

The service is special because it is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the inauguration of The United Church of Canada.    It is based on a service written just for this celebration by the Centennial Celebration Team of the United Church of Canada. It will be adapted and presented jointly by the United Church's from Stayner, Collingwood, Creemore/New Lowell and Thornbury. And there will be cake!

Wikipedia tells us that: "The United Church was founded in 1925 as a merger of four Protestant denominations with a total combined membership of about 600,000 members: the Methodist Church (Canada), the Congregational Union of Ontario and Quebec, two-thirds of the congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, and the Association of Local Union Churches, a movement predominantly of the three provinces of the Canadian Prairies. The Canadian Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church joined the United Church of Canada on January 1, 1968."
