The congregation of Trinity United Church demonstrates a strong commitment to the Christian concept of “outreach” and readily supports the projects this Committee undertakes. Outreach and Social Action reaches out to the surrounding local community to assist those in need, regardless of race, creed or religion.

The Outreach committee also works assisting the Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions.  During the Christmas season a Mitten Rack collects mitts, hats, and scarves; a White Gift Tree collects envelopes of cheques for the Connexion to purchase pajamas, boots and outerwear throughout the winter for children in need in our community, and Christmas Gift Bags are filled by members of the congregation for children and teens.

Outreach has also supported Camp Simpresca by sponsoring a cabin and helping to pay for children who could not otherwise afford to attend summer camp.

The Susan Wells Memorial Crock Pot program is one of the latest endeavours of Outreach and Social Action. This is very successful and was spearheaded by, then Outreach chair, Barb Sneyd.

Also under the umbrella of Outreach and Social Action, Trinity operates a Pantry with food items; an Outdoor Foodbox; a monthly community dinner; and a Warming Closet of gently used winter gear.

Membership to the Outreach and Social Action Committee is open to any in our congregation who want to share our mission of putting the love for our neighbours into action in our community and around the world.
